The New Mexico chapter is delighted to report that we’ve gained brand new members this past week plus we have seen some long-time SPJ members “rejoin the pack” following the reinstatement of the state chapter. Here are three that we want to mention and look for additional announcements about specific individuals in the days to come.
Drew Rudnick comes to the chapter from KOAT-TV where he’s the Southeast New Mexico Bureau Reporter. Drew graduated from ASU where he earned his degree in journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. After interning at the White House for Cox, working at KPIX-TV in San Francisco and working in media relations for a California legislator, Drew joined KOAT-TV in 2007 and is based out of Carlsbad.
A national SPJ Pro member since 1993, Albuquerque-based Dan Vukelich has, once again, got a home state chapter to call his own! Dan is a multiple award-winning writer, producer and editor whose resume includes impressive stints at both out-of-state and local – Santa Fe New Mexican, KOB-TV, KNME-TV and the Albuquerque Tribune – media outlets. Currently the editor and publisher of Sun Country Golf, a bi-monthly magazine and website, Dan also produces special-interest productions for public television.
In our Student Chapter – we’re sharing her with Texas – is Clovis resident Jenna DeWitt who is a junior at Baylor University majoring in journalism. Jenna is the president of the student SPJ chapter at Baylor, the editor of Focus magazine, the student-produced magazine for the local non-profit community, and has interned here in New Mexico at the Clovis News Journal and the Quay County Sun.SPJ
