The Rio Grande Chapter is delighted to have accomplished writer/editor Laura Paskus onboard as a new Pro Chapter member. Since 2006, Laura has worked as an independent reporter and editor covering environmental and social issues in the southwestern United States. Some of her many client outlets include the Santa Fe Reporter, High Country News, New Mexico Independent, The Progressive, Women’s eNews, New Mexico Magazine, Forest Magazine and Law & Politics on topics ranging from energy development and climate change to the looting of archaeological sites and the proposed demolition of Santa Fe’s Paolo Soleri. Recently, she’s also been writing about immigration policy as well as the unsolved murders of eleven women in Albuquerque. Laura edits special issues and publications for Tribal College Journal and the American Indian Higher Education Consortium and, prior to freelancing, she was assistant editor of High Country News for four years. Before becoming obsessed with muckraking (and she’s very, very good at it) she worked as an archaeologist and tribal consultant throughout New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and southern California.
