“First Amendment Award” Provides Free Registration at National Conference
The Eugene S. Pulliam First Amendment Award honors a person or persons who have fought to protect and preserve one or more of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment. Each year, the SPJ Board of Directors and the SPJ Freedom of Information Committee recognizes individuals and groups for extraordinarily strong efforts to preserve and strengthen the First Amendment. Honorees receive a complimentary convention registration.
This award is by open nomination process and nominees are not limited to journalists; nominations may also include legislators, judges, attorneys, law-enforcement officials, government officials, organizations, individuals. A Nomination form should be accompanied by letter(s) of recommendation which addresses the nominee’s efforts to preserve and strengthen the First Amendment and why the nominee is deserving of this national recognition. Additional supporting materials are welcomed.
Winners will be honored at the President’s Installation Banquet at the SPJ Convention & National Journalism Conference. Deadline to apply: July 1. You can see details here.
