SPJ Rio Grande Chapter Member (and Board Member)
David Brown Named “Region 9 Volunteer of the Month”

Trying to raise a sleeping Phoenix – which is essentially what happened when the New Mexico/Rio Grande Chapter was “reawakened” after 24 years – is tough enough but doing it without the perfect balance of enthusiasm and patience could be a disaster.  I’m very pleased to announce that SPJ Rio Grande Chapter’s David L. Brown has just been named Region 9 Society of Professional Journalists’ Volunteer of the Month for just such a balancing act.

David has, first as a volunteer board member and then as the chapter’s elected VP of Communications, given an extraordinary amount of his time and enthusiasm to getting the chapter’s website, communications and outreach strategy in place to help guarantee the chapter’s success.  His participation has been paramount to getting us where we are today and I’m thrilled to announce that out of hundreds and hundreds of SPJ members within the four-state territory (Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah) that comprise Region 9, David has been singled out for his efforts and successes.

Our sincere thanks, David.

P.S. from the subject: Thanks Betsy. It’s an honor and a pleasure to work with you, Region 9 director John Ensslin and the other New Mexico board members to bring this chapter to life. — David
