KUNM is now taking applications to hire on-call Reporters. KUNM may hire multiple Reporters in this recruitment depending on funding and the quality of applications.

Per KUNM News Director Steve Young, “The KUNM news stringer will be responsible for producing local radio news spots or features, conducting interviews for use in newscasts and gathering sound on an “as needed” basis. The stringer may send story pitches to the news director or be assigned a specific story by the news director. How much work to be assigned to and performed by the stringer will be a matter of negotiation between the stringer and the news director and will be dependent upon the stringer’s availability and the station’s needs. All assignments/story ideas must be approved by the news director before any work on the story can begin. Once approved, the stringer will work under the direction of the news director. ”
