David Cuillier’s presentation on using Freedom of Information tools was a smash hit in Albuquerque yesterday. Nearly 30 New Mexico journalists gathered at the Sheraton Uptown Hotel to hear David’s two-hour presentation on how to gain access to public records, and how to create news stories and investigative reports using the data that can be obtained. Here are photos from the event.David Cuillier addresses Albuquerque-area journalists on Wednesday.
David was winding up a 45 day cross-country blitz during which he racked up 14,000 road miles and trained nearly 1000 journalists on FOI techniques. As SPJ’s national FOI chairman and a professor at the University of Arizona, he is a top expert on the subject. He volunteered his time for this project, which was funded by the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation, the non-profit arm of SPJ. The Rio Grande Chapter made arrangements for the event in Albuquerque as well as a second appearance in El Paso scheduled for today.
