As our members know by now, the chapter now has a Listserve. That means that everyone can “talk” with everyone else, and reply to posts by others.
The Listserve is a major benefit of membership, allowing us to create an interactive web of communication about journalism in the Rio Grande territory. Need help with something or have a question? Post it on the Listserve for all members to see and respond. Want to share information, opportunities, problems, anything to do with journalism and our community? The Listserve is there for you, 24/7.
Here’s how it works. In your email address book enter the address RioGrandeSPJ@nmspj.org. To post a message, just use that address to send a normal email. Every paid-up member of the chapter will receive your message.
To respond, you can choose whether to answer the individual who posted, or send to the whole group. To answer privately, choose “Reply” in your email program. To share with everyone, select “Reply All,” and the entire Listserve membership will see your comment.
The Listserve is open to comments without moderation, but the rules of common good manners apply. Anyone who launches a flame war, uses profanity, or otherwise violates reasonable limits will be removed from the list. You have been warned. Also, let’s all agree to limit the use of our Listserve to subjects related to journalism. We don’t need to know the cute remark your kid made at breakfast, where went on vacation, or your speculation about the chances for the Albuquerque Isotopes to win the world championship.
Not a member of SPJ? Sorry, you can’t use the Listserve — it’s for-members-only, and an excellent new reason to join.
