And here’s Gwyneth Doland sharing her thoughts on the Rio Grande Chapter board of directors:
What I love about serving on the board is feeling like I’ve been a member of a team that has extended beyond the newsrooms and organizations I’ve worked for in the past three years. In New Mexico it’s easy to feel isolated as a journalist, especially for a small paper, in a small town or as an independent journalist. SPJ provides a strong connection with colleagues across the state, outstanding resources for building and honing skills—and really fun social events. I joined the board because I wanted to give back to my industry, but I’ve been surprised to find how much I’ve gotten out of the experience.
