Sandra Martinez
Sandra Baltazar Martínez has been working at The Santa Fe New Mexican for two years. She is a general assignment reporter with a focus on Latino and immigration issues. Sandra is also a section editor for La Voz de Nuevo México, The New Mexican’s Spanish weekly section that publishes Mondays.
Sandra came to Santa Fe in 2008 after completing a Master’s in Community Journalism from the University of Alabama through a Knight Foundation fellowship that joined forces with The Anniston Star. The program fired up her love for journalism and gave her a stronger perspective and a stronger impetus to cover issues that affect ordinary people, to dig into the community and give voice to the voiceless (as cliché as that sounds), such as non-English speakers and recent immigrants.
Sandra is married and has a 14-month-old that keeps her happy, balanced and on several cups of coffee and green tea a day!
