The Las Vegas Optic is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Managing Editor. The Optic is a tri-weekly community newspaper located in “the original” Las Vegas in New Mexico, approximately 65 miles east of Santa Fe. The newspaper has circulation of about 4,200 and publishes Monday, Wednesday and Friday editions in addition to numerous other products, along with its website lasvegasoptic.com. The Managing Editor is responsible for leading all day-to-day aspects of the newsroom with an operating philosophy that values coaching, mentoring and team management. Achieving strategic and operational goals and objectives related to news and information content within the print and online components of the company is paramount. This position reports directly to the editor/publisher and is a member of the newspaper’s senior leadership team.
