The Scripps Howard Foundation’s Semester in Washington program is an internship program for undergraduate journalism students to write for the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire. In addition to a strong focus on reporting and writing national news and features, the program includes visits to the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the Student Press Law Center and other journalism and government institutions.

Students can apply for one of three sessions a year: spring, summer and fall. Interns are paid a stipend and provided with free housing. The program works with universities to help students who want academic credit for the internship.

The application deadline for the 2011 spring and summer internships is Nov. 1.

Interns must be undergraduates – juniors or seniors – during the semester they are in Washington. Students with superior multimedia skills will be given preference over those without those skills. For more details on the internship and to apply, follow this link.
