It’s that time of year again! Sunshine Week (March 13-19) is just around the corner so we thought we’d offer an open government refresher for student journalists.
SPJ-Rio Grande is hosting a Zoom session on New Mexico’s Open Meetings Act and Inspection of Public Records Act to help student journalists get more familiar with two of the most important state laws, and to answer questions, provide tips and advice about using the acts and generally celebrate the cleansing power of sunshine!
We are also going to talk about everyone’s favorite thing – “pink slime” journalism.
As we’re on the brink of World War III, it’s a good time to learn more about how to vet news sources, figure out whether a site or publication is real and just generally be better news consumers.

Join us at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 5, via Zoom for some great discussion and probably a few laughs. As per Zoom rules, you only have to be appropriately dressed from the waist up.
