The Roswell Daily Record is seeking a seasoned managing editor to oversee coverage of county, municipal beats, courts, general news, a local cartoonist, social media and web pages.  Five year’s experience in community journalism and editor experience preferred.

We live in a very conservative town with an editorial page policy that leans libertarian. We have no corporate office to answer to and are locally owned, all decisions are made onsite. We have a very hands off policy that lets our editor bring their on management style to our office. Come to work for a family-owned and operated newspaper that values enterprise journalism and rewards hard work. We are a 10,000 paid circulation paper with a great warm climate and almost no snow, but within 70 miles of snow skiing.

The paper is also hiring a general assignment reporter who can write about topics ranging from hard news to light features and everything in between. In addition to writing stories and taking photos, the successful applicant will also be required to do some page design work. Knowledge of InDesign is a big plus.

The Daily Record is the top award-winning newspaper in our size category. For the editor position, send resume, qualifications and clips to Charles Fischer., P.O. Box 1879 Roswell NM  88202 or by e-mail to cfischer@rdrnews.com. See the posting for the editor here.

For the reporter position, contact Rey Berrones, editor, Roswell Daily Record, at  editor@rdrnews.com or by fax at (575) 625-0421. No phone calls please. Applications by mail may be sent to Rey Berrones, Roswell Daily Record, P.O. Box 1897, Roswell, NM 88202. All applications should include a letter of interest, resume, references and clips. See the reporter posting here.

Apply for both positions by April 15th.
