The Rio Grande Sun in EspaƱola, an 11,000 paid circulation weekly, is hiring a newsroom manager for its five reporters.

According to the job listing, the paper “covers all aspects of government while digging for the nugget that lies hidden on each beat. Reporters are trained in and encouraged to use the state open records law and fight for access to many things average weeklies leave behind. We’re known for our tenaciousness and the next news editor will need to fit in that role.

This is not a simple copy editing/pagination job. We need someone with the skill to nurture new reporters, elicit their best work, while producing a superior product readers have come to expect. ”
