One our state’s scrappiest papers, the Rio Grande Sun, is hiring two reporters. (If you wonder why we say scrappy, just look here.)

The Española-based weekly is hiring a reporter for the city beat with strong writing skills who is “an energetic investigator” who will have the opportunity to follow what the paper calls a dysfunctional city council,  “a municipal judge sanctioned by the state supreme court and a budget that changes almost monthly.”

And there is also the education beat, which includes covering a school system, which has had seven superintendents in five years and which faces a $1.4 million shortfall next year. As the ad says, no feature writers. “Several large pay raises would come quickly in the first year to a performing person who wants to write news the way it was taught 20 years ago.”
