The Rio Grande SUN, an 11,500 paid circulation weekly in Northern New Mexico, is seeking a strong news writer with investigative tenacity to fill a county reporter position. The successful candidate must share our news philosophy of going after news stories relentlessly and telling the whole story.

The right person will cover county government, an electric cooperative in deep financial trouble; a solid waste authority battling politics, consumers and fiscal weakness; and all the bells and whistles of a county complex. We need someone who understands open records pursuits, can network inside government offices and organize coverage. The right candidate must have top-notch organizational skills, be able to cover the basic beat but also understand and report on how politics affect handling of county business.

Supportive management if you like the style of newspapering we do.  Competitive salary, vacation, sick, health, profit sharing. Send resume to Managing Editor Robert Trapp at mnged@riograndesun.com.
