Do you know a champion of open government? Do you know someone who believes in government transparency at the state or local level and who has made a significant contribution to sunshine in New Mexico?

Nominate him or her for the Dixon First Amendment Freedom Award, awarded by the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government. Awards are given in the areas of education, law, government, business and journalism.

NMFOG is accepting nominations for the 2013 William S. Dixon First Amendment Freedom Award.  Nominations will be accepted until July 16, 2013. Find out more here.

And congratulations to NMFOG’s new executive director, Terry Schleder. Schleder has been a health advocate and policy consultant in New Mexico since 2000, working as the field director for the NM Alliance for Retired Americans since 2009, according to a release on NMFOG’s website. He has worked in and with state government in the Department of Health since receiving his master’s degree in public health from the UNM School of Medicine.
