About 50 journalists and citizens from around New Mexico attended the Follow the Money seminar Aug. 2 in Albuquerque, and another 50 watched the training online through a live stream.
Eve Byron and Pete Quist from the National Institute on Money in State Politics taught the group how to track political donations in state politics, including examples specific to New Mexico. Seven journalists from outside the Albuquerque/Santa Fe corridor received scholarships to attend the training thanks to a grant from the Thornburg Foundation. Byron and Quist encouraged attendees to contact the institute with questions as they practice what they learned.
