The Las Cruces Sun-News is not just a newspaper. It is a digital first news organization that serves its community by delivering news and information in various formats. We do that through the newspaper, website, mobile apps, Facebook and Twitter. We use Tout, Storify, ScribbleLive, social media and more. A successful multimedia journalist must work fluidly across all of these platforms, understanding the strengths and importance of each. First priority will be to deliver strong, meaningful photos for print and web, and worthwhile photo galleries and videos for web and mobile. Will also need to report and write stories from the field when necessary and develop multimedia stories aimed at our digital product, but which can be re-purposed for print.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in photojournalism, multimedia or related field; experience in producing high-quality photographs and videos that effectively and accurately tell the story; be adept at using various social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tout, Storify and be proficient in Adobe products, such as Photoshop, and the ability to quickly learn other editing software; have excellent verbal communication and writing skills; b flexible to work nights, weekend and occasionally long hours; able to operate and have access to reliable motor vehicle, provide proof and maintain a valid driver’s license and current liability insurance.
