Job Title: Assistant Professor of Communication

Location: Main Campus – Portales, New Mexico
Position Summary: The Department of Communication at Eastern New Mexico University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track mass communication position to begin in August 2018.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include teaching a variety of introductory and skills-oriented courses in media writing, multi-platform digital storytelling and public relations, research and methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and other courses in the major as needed • Advising undergraduate and graduate students as well as service-related duties at the department, college, and university levels, and other duties as assigned by the chair • Teach (12 credit hour load each semester; first-year faculty teach 9 credits) in face-to-face, lecture-capture and/or web platforms
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Successful candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Communication or closely related field by the time of appointment • ABD may be considered. Professional experience and background in journalism, public relations, integrated media environment, television/radio or media production, or strategic communication a plus • Experience working with students, student media, and student organizations a plus Physical Demand and Working Conditions: • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
