We told you to save the date….

And now it has arrived.

The International Women’s Media Foundation is coming to New Mexico!

We are excited to announce IWMF will be here this month for TWO full days of FREE training – first in Albuquerque then in Las Cruces – to include us in their Newsroom Safety Across America Tour

The first day of training will be Friday, Aug. 22, in Albuquerque, followed by a second full day on Saturday, Aug. 23, in Las Cruces.

Both training sessions will be full days, from about 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., so come prepared to learn and participate!

These events are being offered at absolutely NO COST and SPJ Rio Grande is providing the all-important coffee, breakfast nosh and lunch.

Make time on your schedule for this important opportunity.

The training agenda for the sessions is still being finalized, but topics may include risk mitigation, personal safety, active shooter scenarios, protest safety, psychological wellbeing and more.

The International Women’s Media Foundation’s Newsroom Safety Across America Initiative builds on the IWMF’s multi-year effort to bolster newsrooms’ duty of care to protect their journalists’ physical, digital, and emotional wellbeing.

The Newsroom Safety Across America launched in February 2024 to support small- to medium-sized news outlets across the country. Last year, the IWMF trained more than 620 journalists representing 200 local and regional news outlets.
