The Farmington Daily Times is looking for a full-time staff photographer.
We are looking for a shooter who can make photographs that grab the eye. We need someone who can find angles and use light in ways that reveal truths about the people and events we cover.
Our website depends on engaging photos, which are necessary for nearly every story we publish. Our photographers generally have busy schedules that require good organizational skills and an efficient use of time for shooting, editing and filing.
Candidates should have a solid knowledge of how to work everything from a police line to high school sports games under the lights. Hours will vary, including occasional calls during off hours for breaking news events.
Our shooters often illustrate continuing news coverage on a single topic and must be able to find fresh ways to approach their subjects.
During slower times, we want our shooters to be working on projects. We will dedicate editorial space for a good photo essay. We also require our photographers to consistently create online photo galleries.
Candidates should also be able to write clear cutlines that adhere to AP style.
