He’s baaaaaack! Come join Guerilla Editor Henry Lopez for another stupendous digital workshop at the Santa Fe New Mexican. Learn to map Census data, use Storify to expand story telling and find out about new free online tools.
Date: Saturday, Oct. 8, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Place: Santa Fe New New Mexican, 202 E. Marcy Street, Santa Fe
Cost: $25 for non-SPJRG members; $15 for members
Lunch: Pay an extra $5 for a choice of sandwiches and other goodies or bring your own lunch.
Agenda:
9 a.m. – noon: Census Mapping – Spice up census data by creating informative, interactive maps using free tools without programming knowledge.
Noon – 1 p.m.: Lunch
1 – 2:45 p.m.: Digging Deeper with Social Media – Take social media reporting to the next level and learn new tools for better presentation. We’ll explore search techniques and re-insert the news organization into the social-media stream using Storify.
2:45-3 p.m. break
3 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Free digital tools for story telling – Walk away with dozens of free online tools that will help you report, gather sources and present your online work without needing a massive IT staff.
CDs of Henry’s materials will be available for an additional $5 so you can review workshop material at your leisure.
