The New Mexico Press Women will be offering its 2021 Annual Conference, “Finding the Story: From Investigative Journalism to Nonfiction and Fiction Writing,” online, in keeping with the times. The conference is Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13.

This year, the Society of Professional Journalists Rio Grande Chapter is proud to be able to offer funding assistance to those wishing to attend. We will reimburse the first 25 registered attendees up to $150 in conference fees.

To request reimbursement for fees, send an email to spjriogrande@gmail.com with your registration confirmation and mailing address.

This year’s conference offers a wide variety of programming, including a panel discussion on “Finding Stories Across Multiple Genres,” featuring panelists Irene Blea, memoir and novels; Loretta Hall, space exploration and history, and Jane Lindskold, science fiction. The panel moderator will be Sherri Burr.

On the first day of the conference, there will also be a virtual conversation with bestselling author Doug Preston.

The keynote speaker for the conference will be Susan Holloway Scott, a Brown graduate and bestselling historical fiction author of 50 novels.

Full registration – $150 for NMPW members and $175 for nonmembers – includes all events on Friday and Saturday. You may also register for only the individual sessions you want to attend.
