The Rio Grande Sun, a 9,000 paid weekly newspaper in Española, New Mexico is looking for someone who’s nuts about sports. There are six high schools in Rio Arriba County plus Pojoaque High School, just south of us. People here live for high school basketball like Texans flock to Friday night football. Basketball and politics are married here. They’re an unhappy couple but they stay together. All schools have basketball teams (boys and girls). We also have a college with mens and womens basketball. It’s a big beat but you would own it. We need someone to write, photograph and eventually paginate high school sports for our readers. Salary, mileage, vacation, sick, profit sharing, free coffee.
