The Daily Times, a daily newspaper in Farmington is looking for a cops and courts reporter.
Candidates should have the ability to turn a breaking news story quickly, both for the next day’s print product and immediately on social media. This is a busy beat that consistently produces front-page stories and drives significant online traffic.
We are looking for someone with a compelling writing style who can keep track of multiple story lines as cases move from the arrest through the courts. Candidates should have the ability to find new angles as those cases develop so the stories don’t become repetitive.
Posting on social media — Twitter, Facebook and Tout — will be a daily requirement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism or related field.
- At least three years of reporting at a weekly or daily newspaper. Cops or courts experience is a definite plus.
