***Please note the corrected dates. The Abq event is April 24***
Digital cameras have become indispensable tools for journalists. But do you know how to get the most out of your point-and-shoot camera? Do you struggle to select the best image for publication? Can you use Photoshop?
Join award-winning photojournalist Natalie Guillen at one of two workshops this spring in New Mexico to learn more. Guillen, a graduate of the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism in Columbia, is a staff photographer for The Santa Fe New Mexican. She’s provided training for the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and has traveled to Haiti and Africa to make pictures. She is known for her sensitivity in tough situations. She’s an expert at earning the trust of her subjects and capturing moments that tell stories.
Guillen will show some of her work and guide participants toward improving their own images. Both events are free for chapter members. In Albuquerque (April 24 @ Chamber of Commerce), nonmembers pay $20 for a three-hour afternoon event that begins at 1 p.m. All journalists get in for free in Las Cruces (May 1 @ Convention Center), also from 1 to 4 p.m.
Please RSVP to jgrimm@sfnewmexican.com.
