The Region 9 conference is almost here!
This year, we are partnering with Trusting News for a day of programming.

What do you wish people understood about your work and why it’s worthy of trust? Spend a Saturday with Trusting News, and you’ll leave with ideas mapped out to earn trust in your own work.
We’ll talk about:
- What people do and don’t know about how responsible journalism works, and how to build that information into your work.
- How journalists can introduce themselves to and connect with people in the community not tuning into their news.
- How the political climate is affecting trust in news, and what journalists can do about it.
- How to continually learn more about what people need from the news.
- How to get buy-in in your newsroom for new ideas.
The workshop will be led by two members of the Trusting News team, Joy Mayer and Mollie Muchna. They’ll bring examples and strategies you can copy. They’ll share templates and help you workshop how the ideas apply to your work. You’ll leave ready to take active steps to connect with your community and demonstrate your credibility and trustworthiness.
Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. and you’ll be able to mingle, grab a bit of breakfast and of course the all-important cup of coffee. We are also going to provide you with lunch!
In addition to your sparkling personality, bring your laptop – free wifi will be available – so you can get all the details from our trainers and end the day with an actionable plan to take back to your news room!
Obviously we can’t make you stay all day, but the training from Trusting News is going to be very comprehensive and integrated so we know you won’t want to miss a minute.
Additional perk for attending:
With the world of journalism sometimes feeling more chaotic than usual, we know keeping track of your work, archiving it and sharing it with your readers may be the last priority on your long list.
That’s why we’ve partnered with the folks at Authory for a 20% discount on all their plans for the first year you sign up. Every attendee at this year’s Region 9 conference will get the discount link once the day of training with Trusting News!
Authory founder Eric Hauch wanted a way to follow the articles of his favorite journalists, no matter where they were published. And thus Authory was born.
The site helps journalists keep their readers personally up to date on new articles and to easily keep track, browse and search through all of the articles they have ever written, regardless of where these articles were published.
So whether you’ve been with your newsroom for years or have bylines in multiple publications, Authority can gather them together, and help you organize and share them.
Eric’s promise to journalists is Authory has no advertising, no selling of your data to PR companies, no hidden agendas. Authory is designed with only journalists like you in mind.
So, register for the conference now to take advantage of this offer from Authory!
