Intensive, one-day workshop about researching, interviewing, fieldwork, writing (and re-writing), and building a community of peers. The workshop will focus on environment and science reporting, but much of the day will be applicable to any type of beat reporting.
DETAILS: Saturday, September 15 • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. • University of New Mexico, 104 Marron Hall • $20 registration fee, which benefits the UNM Student Chapter of SPJ
SPJ will supply a light breakfast. Lunch will be on your own, but consider bringing a lunch and finding some new-to-you colleagues to talk with under a tree for an hour. Early sign-up is suggested for two reasons: 1.) We’ll be capping the class at 30, and 2.) The earlier you sign up the earlier you have access to pre-class materials and assignments. To register, email laura.paskus@gmail.com.
Please note that while anyone is welcome to register, this workshop is geared toward journalism and science writing for public audiences, not public relations or communications.
This event is sponsored by the UNM Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Rio Grande Chapter of SPJ.
